Wireless Internet Service is a technology that allows us to send a signal through the air from one wireless tower to another that transmits information, just like it would through a telephone line (dial-up or DSL), or cable lines (cable modem).

Wireless Internet Service is available now, and can give your home or business one of several advantages:

• Wireless offers a reliable connection to the Internet based on quality signal strength from end to end.
• Wireless is especially important as a "last mile" technology, offering service to those where DSL, cable modem or expensive lease lines are unavailable, such as rural communities, areas too far away for the phone company to be able to offer DSL, or areas where the cable lines don't support the necessary signal strength to offer cable modem Internet.
• ABS uses Alvarion wireless technology that is both dependable and secure, ensuring that no one will be "borrowing" your connection illegally from the wireless equipment we install.

There are 3 things you need in order to get Wireless Internet Service to your location:

• A Network Interface Card (NIC)
• A router device
• A place to mount the wireless equipment

A router is a device which separates your computer or network from the rest of the Internet. A router contains the address the entire Internet community sees when you are connected. However, they don't see your PC or network. This provides protection from Internet threats such as certain viruses, hackers, and network attacks. We require a router device with our service, not only to protect you from Internet attack, but also to protect our network from harmful virus traffic or other such threats that may end up using your PC to transmit.

In terms of mounting equipment, there are several things to consider:

• Do you own the building? If not, we ask that you please consult your landlord prior to scheduling a site survey. If your landlord will not allow equipment to be mounted on your building, we may not be able to offer you wireless service or have to find alternative equipment mounting methods.
• Do you have any concerns with the height of the pole we mount the dish on? If you are concerned with the way it looks on your house or place of business we can work with you to find a mounting solution that will meet your needs.
• Are you in a building with multiple businesses? You might consider asking the other businesses if they would like to receive wireless service as well to help us know where to mount the equipment to better serve the needs of everyone involved.
